How We Accidentally Teed Off a Golf Empire
Picture this: It’s 2015, and four friends (let’s call them Cody, Kyle, Derek, and Jordan) decide to take a “quick” 9-hole game before Cody’s wedding. Spoiler alert: Cody was late for his wedding, but he gained a business instead. Talk about a hole-in-one life decision!
As we sat in the clubhouse, nursing our wounded egos. Emptying our wallets after losing every ball we owned to the water hazard on hole 7 (we swear it was magnetic). We had an epiphany. “What if,” Derek slurred through his third consolation beer, “we could help other mediocre golfers like us avoid such embarrassment?”
And just like that, Happy Valley Golf Team was born – though we’re pretty sure Derek doesn’t remember suggesting it.
Our Mission: From Bogeys to Birdies (Eventually)
We set out on a noble quest: to guide fellow golf enthusiasts through the treacherous world of dimpled balls and oddly-shaped sticks. Our first blog post, “10 Ways to Look Like You Know What You’re Doing on the Golf Course,” went viral overnight. Turns out, there are a lot of us out there pretending to understand what “playing the back tees” means.
From there, we expanded faster than Kyle’s waistline after discovering the all-you-can-eat buffet at the country club. We started reviewing equipment (turns out, using your grandpa’s wooden clubs from the ’50s isn’t “vintage,” it’s just bad), planning golf trips (pro tip: Vegas and golf don’t mix), and delivering news via our newsletter (did you know there’s a professional mini-golf league? Neither did we!).
